Hey there! My name’s LuAnn Kern and I live with my husband and two teenage daughters near the shores of Lake Michigan. My daughters were born in Guatemala and being their mom is the most rewarding part of my life. We share our home with two English Springer Spaniels and a tomcat, all three also adopted. Our days are filled with things familiar to many American families with teenagers: school, homework, unfinished chores, after-school sports, youth group, pizza, tacos, and Marvel super heroes.
I am also a picture book nerd and enjoy writing for children. I’m a Kids Hope Director for Engedi Church, training and coordinating a team of awesome mentors for at-risk elementary and middle-school students. I also have a passion for Days for Girls, International, and work with local volunteers to create reusable feminine hygiene supplies that help keep girls in school.
I became a believer in the transforming love of Jesus Christ while I was a teenager. Ever since, I’ve been trying to live a life that shines for His glory. My desire for this blog-to-book project is to use my writing skills and life experiences to serve other adoptive families.
